MATERNITY HOME The House of Blessing is pleased to announce that in the summer of 2005 we opened a Maternity Home at the former House of Blessing. This home is open to young pregnant women ages 16 - 23 from within our community who have no place to turn . With no other Maternity Home open within Perth County, young women who have been rejected by their families due to pregnancies, are forced out of the community to a larger urban centre, or compromise their morals for a place to sleep. By keeping these women within their community, they will have the opportunity to repair relationships, if appropriate, while being connected with the services available by community agencies. A component of the Maternity Home is Life Skills programming with the women being encouraged to continue their education or obtain employment. We have prepared a Wish List of items still needed for the Home. On behalf of all the young women and their babies who will benefit from your support, we say Thank You! Items still needed: Blender Toaster oven Single bed sheets (16" pocket type)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Come and join the wonderful team of volunteers at the House of Blessing, daily, weekly, monthly to sort clothes, work in the food bank, or do pick-ups. We can also use volunteer to help at Sara's Place Maternity Home. We serve lunch and have a family environment We can also use volunteer to help at Sara's Place Maternity Home. We are also looking to add two more members to our Ladies Auxilliary which meets nine times a year. We have lots of fun and plan three fund raisers.
